Bettye Joyce (Stone) Miles, 82, of Evansville, Ind., passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at St. Vincent Medical Center.
Bettye was born in Fort Branch, Ind., on June 27, 1935, to the late Frank and Willena Dayvolt (DeLong) Stone. In 1944, Bettye moved to Evansville, Ind., where she lived for the remainder of her life. She graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School with the Class of 1953, belonged to American Legion Auxiliary Post 265 and VWF Auxiliary Post 2953. Bettye was an Associate Member with the Fraternal Order of Police and an Honorary Sheriff of Vanderburgh County. She worked for the Vanderburgh County Auditors Office before retiring in 2000 from the Department of Weights and Measures. Bettye loved family, life, friends and playing cards. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Bettye is survived by her daughters, Lisa Rebstock (Rock), of Evansville, Ind., Lori Dillback, of Evansville, Ind., and Launa Mitchell (Bruce), of Evansville, Ind.; son, Lance Miles, of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Shirley Overton, of Fort Branch, Ind., and Sherri Angell, of Braselton, Ga,; brother, John Dayvolt, of Evansville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband, W. Scott Miles; daughter, Barbara Thompson; son, Ronnie Miles; sister, Evelyn Phillips; brothers, Jerry Stone and Vernon Dayvolt; and her parents.
